Pondy evolves project to divert sewage to sea

Puducherry, Sep 24 (UNI) The Puducherry administration has evolved a project to prevent sewage from running into ponds and water tanks in rural areas, Welfare Minister M Kandasamy said today.

Inaugurating a community tube well here, Mr Kandasamy said under the new project, the sewage would be treated properly before letting it out into the sea.

The project would be implemented with financial assistance from HUDCO, he said.

Stating that cultivable lands were decreasing in Bahour area due to convertion of fields into housing projects, Mr Kandasamy said if the trend continued there would be no land for cultivation in another five years.
