'No nuke proliferators' network on Pak soil'

Islamabad, Sep 24: Pakistan today categorically denied that any network of nuclear proliferators was operating on its soil.

''Pakistan has dismantled whatever activities in the country relating to nuclear proliferation,'' Foreign Office spokesperson Tasneem Aslam said at her weekly news briefing here.

She said there was no A Q Khan network operating in Pakistan and media reports suggesting presence of such a group were baseless and unfounded.

''There are international nuclear proliferation networks and more than three hundred western companies involved in it,'' she said, adding proliferation is taking place internationally since the nuclear weapons were built in 1945.

''We expect other nations to take strong actions againt nuclear proliferation. If any network in South Africa is working, it is good that other countries take action against it,'' she stressed.
