Mastermind behind Krishnanand Rai murder case arrested

Lucknow, Sep 23 (UNI) Police today arrested hardened criminal Ashutosh Rawat alias Ashu along with six other criminals, in BJP MLA Krishnanand Rai murder case in Lucknow .

Talking to reportes here, Police Inspector General A K Jain said after getting a tip off from Special Task Force Manoj Kumar and Ashutosh, who was the mastermind behind the murder, were arrested with their five accomplices at Malihabad station.

Police recovered one pistol, 300 gm morphine and stamp paper worth Rs 20,000 from Ashutosh. Two country made pistols, cartridges and stamp paper worth Rs one Lakh were also recovered from the rest of the criminals.

Ashutosh had confessed during the interrogation that he had planned the murder at MLA Mukhtar Ansari's house.

Police has despatched special teams to several places to arrest other criminals involved in the murder based on his confession.
