Five persons electrocuted in past 48 hours
Barrackpore, Sep 24 (UNI) At least five people, including a woman, were electrocuted at different places in North 24 Parganas during the past 48 hours.
Police said here today that a 52-year old man was electrocuted at Tegharia under Sonarpur police station in North 24 Parganas.
In a seperate incident, a 60-year old night guard was electrocuted when he stepped on a live wire at Jagatpur under Rajarhat police station yesterday.
Pradip Sarkar, a resident of Tegharia under Sonarpur police station, was electrocuted at his house yesterday as the building was reportedly short circuited due to inclement weather.
The body was sent for postmortem, police said.
Earlier, a couple, Arshed Ali (50) and Aquila Bibi, were electrocuted by a live wire at their farm at Bishwanathpur village under Deganga police station in North 24 Parganas on September 22.
While Aquila Bibi died on the spot, Arshed was admitted to the Bishwanathpur Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries, police added.
