Gulbarga, Sep 24 (UNI) Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa today alleged that the Union Government was showing stepmotherly attitude towards the state in extending financial assistance.

Addressing an election campaign here, the Deputy Chief Minister alleged that despite submitting three representatives to the centre for release of funds for flood relief works, the state had not received any response from the centre.

''We have demanded Rs 500 crore to be released immediately for taking up relief and rehabilitation works in flood affected areas.

But we have not received a single rupee so far'', he alleged.

Accusing the Congress leaders of the state for having failed in bringing pressure on the Centre in providing financial assistance, he alleged that they had neither mounted pressure on the centre nor convinced it to release funds.
