AIADMK to agitate against delay in constructing bridges

Chennai, Sep 24 (UNI) The Opposition AIADMK will stage a demonstration in front of the Vedaranyam Tahsildar's Office tomorrow to protest against the DMK Government for putting on the backburner construction of five bridges in Vedaranyam and Sirkazhi.

In a statement here today, AIADMK supremo J Jayalalithaa recalled that her previous Government had announced the Rs 17.26 crore project in October, 2005. However, the DMK Government was delaying the project and had not even undertaken soil test and prepared the estimate, she alleged.

The DMK Government had come out with a G O on July 25 last, stating that financial allocation for the project had been made as per revised estimates, she added.
