Tornado tears apart 10 villages within seconds

Howrah, Sept 23 (UNI) Over 500 houses in 10 villages have been damaged by a tornado that blew briefly over Baghnan's three gram panchayat areas this morning leaving hundreds homeless.

Apart from the houses that had been damaged, several trees and electric poles had also been uprooted or broken, Baghnan Block I Pachayat Samity president Sabina Begum said while adding that there were however no reports of any casualties.

Electric supply to these areas have been disrupted with schools, libraries and houses falling under total darkness.

Meanwhile, Kalyanpur Assembly former MLA Asit Mitra accused the administration of negligence and inability to take prompt actions in ''times such as these''.
