Several hurt as groups clash in Mathura
Lucknow, Sep 23 (UNI) Several people were hurt in the temple town of Mathura after two groups clashed over a petty issue today, police has said.
Sources in the Uttar Pradesh DGP office said here that two shop-keepers in the Kosi Kalan area, identified as Tinda Baniya and Esam, were involved in a heated exchange over a minor issue. The argument soon took an ugly turn when supporters of the two hurled stones at each other. The clash left several people injured.
Police had to use force to bring the situation under control.
Police later detained an unspecified number of people for rioting and arson.
Police presence has been increased in the area as a precautionary measure.
