Rains lash western MP

Bhopal, Sep 23 (UNI) Several parts of western Madhya Pradesh are receiving showers for the past two to three days and the rain-affected Jhabua district witnessed rainball for the second straight day.

''A low pressure area over Orissa is causing the rain and advancing towards this state. Over the next 24 hours, Jabalpur, Sagar and Rewa divisions might experience receive downpours,'' said a Regional Meteorological Centre spokesman.

A UNI report from Jhabua district headquarters said that more than 1.5 inches of rain were recorded about two hours this afternoon. The district recorded more than of 46 inches of rain this season against the usval average is 32. Farmers said that the showers were beneficial for soybean, groundnut and cotton crops.

Indore and Ujjain divisions witnessed isolated rain overnight.

Precipitation figures were Ratlam two cm and Indore one cm. The state capital recorded a high of 32.4 degrees Celsius and low of 23.2 C, both readings were a couple of notches above normal.
