Nine held in group clash

Mysore, Sep 23 (UNI) As many as nine persons were arrested by the police in connection with a group clash between two communities at Chikknakanhalli village in neighbouring Mandya district.

Police said today that the arrested were involved in attacking various houses and damaging eleven houses in the village over a clash in connection with the Ganesh idol immersion.

They also torched a motorbike and three cycles.

Prohibitory orders under Section 144 CRpC were clamped in the village.

The situation was under control now.

Additional police forces have been deployed in the village from Mandya.
