Nine-day Brahmotsavam concludes

Tirumala, Sep 23 (UNI) Curtain came down on the annual nine-day Brahmotsavam festival with Chakrasnanam at Tirumala today.

The Chakrasnanam ritual began at dawn with thousands of people eagerly waiting on the banks of Pushkarini to witness the ritual.

Bedecked in precious ornaments, the processional deity Sri Malayappa Swamy, with his consorts Sridevi and Bhudevi, was taken in a procession from the main temple.

Amid chanting of veda mantras and other hymns, priests performed Snapana Thirumanjanam (celestial bath) to the Lord and his consorts.

Several fragrant herbs, pure water, sandals , milk, curd, coconut water and honey were used in the ritual. Abhishekam was also performed to Chakarathalvar ( Sudharshana Chakram) on the occasion.

Later, Chakarathalvar was taken into the Pushkarini by the priests for a holy dip, thousands of devotees waiting for the moment also took the holy dip along with the Chakarathalvar. Turmeric and sandal used in Sanapana Thirumanjanam were distributed to a few lucky devotees.

Later in the night, Dhwajawarohanam (bringing down Garuda Dhwajan from the Dhwajastambam) held as a mark of conclusion of Sri Vari Brahmotsavam.

TTD chairman B Karunarakara Reddy, TTD Executive Officer K V Ramanachary, Temple JEO Balaramaiah, Temple Deputy Executive Officer Prabhakara Reddy and other officials, were among others, who had a dip at Pushkarini.
