Man killed in blast while making firecrackers

Ludhiana, Sep 23 (UNI) A man was killed in a blast that occurred while he was engaged in making firecrackers in his house in Salim Tawri locality of the city today.

Police sources said that while 40-year-old Satnam Singh, who was making firecrackers illegally in his residence, died on the spot, his wife Rani and son Gori sustained burn injuries in the fire.

The cause of the blast was not known immediately, the police sources said.

They added that the vigilance against such illegal units running in residential areas will be stepped up in view of the coming festival season.
