TN Govt committed to develop panchayats

Tiruchirapalli, Sep 23: The Tamil Nadu government is committed to provide all town panchayats in the state with basic amenities in the next four years, Local Administration Minister M K Stalin has said.

Talking to newspersons here yesterday, Mr Stalin said the government would provide Rs 50 lakh each to 140 town panchayats under Anna Renaissance Scheme to improve basic amenities.

He said apart from this, the town panchayats would be provided with an additional fund of Rs 50 lakh under state rural development scheme.

The government had instructed the authorities concerned to give priority to set up ponds, drinking water supply and laying of concrete roads, he added.
