Security breach at Australian PM's home

SYDNEY, Sep 21 (Reuters) An Australian man was taken into custody after a burning shoulder bag was thrown over the security fence around Prime Minister John Howard's official Sydney residence, police said today.

Police and protective services quickly extinguished the flames and there were no reports of damage or any injuries.

Howard, who has been in power 11 years and who is expected to call elections within weeks, was in Canberra at the time of the security breach.
