Generals
to
the
rank
of
Lieutenant
General,
a
day
after
presidential
poll
was
announced
in
the
country.
Major General Nadeem Taj will be the new Director General Inter Services Intelligence, replacing Lieutenant-General Ashfaq Pervez Kiani who is being considered the frontrunner in the race to take over as Chief of Army Staff (COAS) when Gen Musharraf doff uniform.
Major General Javed Zia will be shifted to Headquarters, Major General Shujat Zamir Dar has been promoted as Director General Anti Narcotics Force, Major General Mohsin Kamal as Commander Rawalpindi Corps, Major General Muhammad Asghar as Rector, National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) and Major General Jamil Haider as General Headquarters, an ISPR release said.
Vice Chief of Army Staff General Ahsan Saleem Hyat and chairman of the joint chiefs of staff General Ehsan ul-Haq are both due to retire next month.
A set of petitions are pending before the Supreme Court challenging Gen Musharraf holding two offices of the President and Army chief and his re-election bid.
