Mamoni released from hospital; to resume peace process
Guwahati, Sep 21 (UNI) Noted litterateur and chief peace broker with the ULFA Mamoni Raisom Goswami was today released from a city hospital, where she was admitted on September 12 following a mild cerebral stroke.
She was kept in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in a specialty hospital.
The pressure of acting as the chief peace broker between the government and the ULFA was believed to have taken its toll on the writer's health.
The Jnanpith awardee, talking to reporters after her release, said she would resume the peace process after she returns to fully fit once again. The ULFA leaders had also enquired about her health, the lady added.
Dr Goswami reiterated her appeal to both sides to come forward for direct talks and said some amount of sacrifice was necessary from both government and ULFA.
She was yet to recover fully and had been advised against any travel, though she could resume her writing activities.
