Dummy grenade case in unclaimed bag causes panic
Coimbatore, Sep 21 (UNI) An unclaimed bag at the 'Uzhavar Sandhai (farmers' market) in R S Puram in the city caused panic last night.
A police official told UNI today he received a call stating there was an unclaimed bag lying in the market premises.
A search by the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad revealed that it was an empty outer case of a dummy grenade used for training purpose by military and para-military personnel.
The grenade was manufactured in 1968 and no explosive or detonation material found, the official said.
It was sent to Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Camp at Kurudampalayam for further examination.
