Contempt charges against scribes should be dropped: DUJ

New Delhi, Sep 21 (UNI) The Delhi Union of Journalists today demanded that contempt proceedings against journalists probing charges against former Chief Justice Y K Sabharwal be dropped, as they were acting in ''good faith and in public interest''.

In a statement, DUJ president S K Pande said the decision of the High Court to convict journalists of 'Midday' newspaper for publishing a story on allegations of crruption against the former CJI is an assault on the freedom of expression.

An emergency meeting of the body will be held tomorrow to discuss facts of the case, he said.
