Cable operator equipment seized by ED

Barrackpore, Sep 21 (UNI) Enforcement department today seized equipment and a few pirated compact disc of films allegedly telecast by a cable operator and arrested an employee, police said.

District Enforcement department in North 24 Parganas conducted a raid in the office and studio of Barrackpore Central Cable Network (BCCN) and seized its transmitting equipment for alleged illegal transmission of films using compact disc violating the copy right act.

The operators allegedly were telecasting programme violating various sections of Cinema and photography acts and infringement of laws through the wire, sources added.

Thus BCCN had to suspend its transmitting different programme through cable since this afternoon.
