Bomb blast suspect remanded to judicial custody

Hyderabad, Sep 21 (UNI) Ridwan Ghazi, the Bangladeshi youth who was arrested by the police for his alleged role in the August 25 twin blasts in the city, in which more than 40 people were killed, was today remanded to judicial custody till October 5 by a city court.

The remand was extended by the 12th Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court, when police produced Ghazi, who was arrested in Bangalore.

Ghazi was charged with the Conspiracy and Violation of the Passport Act, by overstaying in the country after the expiry of his visa.

Police shifted the suspect to the Cherlapalli central jail.

Talking to newspersons before being whisked away in a waiting police vehicle, Ghazi claimed that he had come to Hyderabad only for his studies and had nothing to do with the blasts. None of his friends had any connection with the blasts and no one known to him had escaped from India as charged by the police, he added.
