Active wet spell likely over North-West India

Shimla, Sep 21 (UNI) A deep trough in middle and upper troposphere westerlies was likely to move across North-West India during September 23 to 26, Shimla Meteorological Centre said today.

According to a Met press note, it was likely to interact with a low-pressure area which is expected to approach central parts of the country around Sepbember 23.

Under this scenario, fairly widespread rainfall was likely over Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh, with isolated heavy to very heavy showers over these areas during September 24 to 26, the note said.

Fairly widespread rains were also likely over Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh during the same period.

Snowfall could also occur over higher reaches of Himachal Pradesh, it said.
