Fascinating vegetable markets afloat on Dal lake

Srinagar, Sept 20, 2007: The Dal Lake in Srinagar boasts of being the venue for the famous 'floating vegetable market', the only one of its kind in India and the second in the world after the rowing shops along the River Mekong in Vietnam.

Spanning an area of 12,500 acres, the market generates a business of 35 million rupees annually. The market is around 150 years old and offers livelihood to hundreds of people in the valley.
