$ 400m loan for hydel project

New Delhi,Sept 20, 2007 : The World Bank has approved a loan of $400 million to the Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam Ltd, a joint venture between the Centre and the Himachal Pradesh government to construct a 412-mw project near Rampur on the River Satluj.

The project will help in tapping the state's hydel capacity and provide power for a million more homes. The Rampur project will use water discharged by the joint venture's Nathpa-Jhakhri hydel project situated upstream on the Satluj.
