Time limit extended in executing warrant against Bal Thackeray

Mumbai, Sep 20 (UNI) A Sessions Court here today extended the time limit for executing the bailable warrant against Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray till tomorrow.

Additional Sessions Judge S J Shah directed the Mumbai Police to execute the warrant against Mr Thackeray only tomorrow. The warrant had been issued, by a local court earlier on a complaint filed by NCP activist Munna Tripathi, who had accused the Sena chief of publishing ''provocative articles'' in his party mouthpiece ''Saamna'' on June 29 last year.

The judgement was in response to an application moved by Mr Tripathi alleging that police had not executed the warrant so far despite clear court directives to the police to arrest Mr Thackeray and immediately release him on bail after furnishing a bail bond of Rs 5000.

The court, however, exempted Mr Thackeray from personal appearance in the local court on September 27, the next date of hearing.
