Nepal to build International Airport

Kathmandu, Sep 20 (UNI) Nepal government has initiated the process to construct a full-fledged international airport at Neejgadh, Bara in southern Terai area and has requested an American Company for conducting the feasibility study.

''The American Trade and Development Office has responded very positively in this regard," Kantipur quoted Madhav Ghimire, Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, as saying.

''With a credible proposal, we expect international investors to come in for its construction.'' The Chinese government has also shown interest on constructing a regional airport in Pokhara, he said.

''In addition, the Korean government is also extending financial support of one to three million US dollars to build an infrastructure at the Gautam Buddha International Airport, Bhairahawa,'' he said.

Currently, there is only one international airport at Kathmandu.
