VDC member commits suicide in Doda

Jammu, Sep 19 (UNI) A Village Defence Committee (VDC) member allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan at Praval in Doda yesterday, official sources today said.

As per a police report, a VDC member, identified as Jeevan Lal, son of Brij Lal, resident of Sangorana Parval hanged himself inside his house in the absence of other family members.

The body was handed over to his family members for the last rites after post mortem.

Police have initiated inquest proceedings under section 174 CR PC.
