Tushar Kant Bhattacharya sent to jail

Patna, Sep 19 (UNI) The Chief Judicial Magistrate(CJM) of Patna today remanded two members of the banned CPI(ML), including Tushar Kant Bhattacharya, to judicial custody till October three.

During the day, Bhattacharya, a hardcore member of the CPI(ML) in Andhra Pradesh, and his associate Brijmohan Ram were produced before the court after their arrest from Budha Colony police station here on September 18,2007.

The court also passed an order for police remand of ten days for custodial interrogation of Mr Bhattacharya by Patna police.

According to the charges, Mr Bhattacharya was involved in naxal activities for the past two months here.

Police also claimed to have recovered a huge quantity of naxal litarature, explosive articles like timer wrist watch, clock besides other objectionable articles from the possession of the accused.

The wife of Mr Bhattacharya - Soma Sen - was also made named accused in the case for active assistance to her husband in his activities.

Police claimed to have recovered some letters of Mrs Sen from the possession of Mr Bhattacharya.
