Silver closes at five weeks high, gold down

Mumbai, Sep 19 (UNI) Spot silver today closed at a five week high at Rs 17,840 per kg with a smart gain of Rs 105 on strong global advice but pure Gold ended down at Rs 9500 per ten gm with a modest loss of Rs 10 per ten gm on sustained heavy offers by stockists in view of subdued advice from global and upcountry markets, traders at the Bombay Bullion Association said.

Following are the closing rates of spot silver and gold: Silver (per kg) 999 fineness grade : Rs 17,840 (17,735) Gold (per 10 gm) Gold 99.5 purity standard mint : Rs 9,445 (9,470) Gold 99.9 purity pure gold : Rs 9,500 (9,510).
