New Delhi, Sep 19 (UNI) Delhi Police Commissioner Y S Dadwal today ordered suspension of the Mukherjee Nagar police station SHO and two Head Constables in connection with the alleged molestation of five Delhi University girl students on Sunday.

The SHO, D R Mann, and Head Constables -- Rajender Singh and Shamsher Singh -- have been suspended for alleged laxity in duty as they allegedly refused to register the complaint of the five girl hostellers who were molested on the busy Shamnath Marg by some men, who had come for the Delhi Police recruitment test.

Besides, two fresh FIRs have been registered and police are reviewing security arrangements in the Delhi University area.

More PCR vans and women constables would be deployed in the police stations, a senior police officer said.

Earlier, talking to the media persons this evening, Mr Dadwal had promised ''strict action'' against the policemen who had refused to help the distressed girls and had said ''PCR personnel who refused to respond to the girls' call for help would be suspended''.

During the day, chanting anti-Delhi Police slogans, agitated students of Indraprastha College took out a protest march demanding stringent action against those who allegedly molested the girls.

Seeking 'safety for women' around the college campus, the protestors demanded cancellation of the recruitment process by the Delhi Police until an inquiry into the matter was completed.

Police would also seek the help of the victims to identify and nab the culprits, he added, while speaking after a meeting with the National Commission for Women chief Girija Vyas.

On Sunday, at least five girl hostellers were allegedly molested on the busy Shamnath Marg by some men who had come for the Delhi Police recruitment test.

The men accosted the girls in the vicinity of the college and molested them, said an angry demonstrator.

There was no police security in the area, the girls alleged.

They said when they went to the Morris Nagar police station to lodge a complaint, cops refused to register it.
