Security forces capture six militants

Imphal, Sep 19: The Assam Rifles(AR) and police nabbed six militants during the last 24 hours in separate incidents in Manipur.

The Central paramilitary sources today said the jawans of the 21 AR had conducted operations at Imphal West and Thoubal district areas and apprehended two Kangleu Yawol Kanna Lup(KYKL) cadres yesterday.

In another operation, 13 AR troops had carried out search at Viewland at Ukhrul and apprehended a People's United Liberation Front (PULF) activist.

The troops of 4 AR captured three more militants on September 18, one of whom belonged to People's Liberation Army(PLA) and another to Kangleipak Communist Party(KCP-L). The PLA cadre, identified as Y Kumar, was involved in an ambush on September 7 last and disclosed the identities of those, who were involved in that incident, sources stated.

In another operation one United National Liberation Front(UNLF) insurgent was also nabbed by the security personnel.

Meanwhile, suspected rebels left a hand grenade at the residence of Nameirakpam Biren here, Executive Engineer of Electricity Department yesterday, police said and added that the grenade was later defused by the bomb squad experts.
