Punjab Cabinet extends special package period for IT services

Chandigarh, Sep 19 (UNI) The Punjab Cabinet today gave the nod for the extension in the time period of grant of special package of incentives to IT and IT enabled services, electronics industry knowledge parks and bio-technology units under industrial policy-2003.

This decision was taken in the meeting of the Cabinet which met here this evening under the chairmanship of Chief minister Parkash Singh Badal.

In another major decision, the Cabinet also approved the upgradation of sub-tehsil Lehra as sub-division/tehsil of district Sangrur. This sub division would consist of two Kaungo Circles namely Lehra and Gaga, 20 Patwar Circles and 42 revenue villages alongwith creation of posts at a recurring cost of Rs 60 lakh per annum.

The meeting also approved the creation of 18 additional posts of Additional District and Sessions Judge in Punjab on account of deputation/leave reserve.

The meeting approved the setting up of Hotel Management Institute at Boothgarh village in SAS Nagar (Mohali) in Private Public Partnership mode through a transparent competitive bidding on the directions/guidelines of the Punjab Infrastructure Development Board. The institute would be affiliated to the National Council for Hotel Management.

The Cabinet also approved the amendment in Section 25 of the Punjab Infrastructure (Development&Regulation Act, 2002) with retrospective effect from April 1, 2005 by promulgating an Ordinance.

The Cabinet also approved the issuing of an Ordinance for amending Clause 3(a) of the Punjab Fiscal Responsibility and Budget Management (Amendment) Act, 2005 to reduce the fiscal deficit from the financial year 2005-06 so as to bring it down to three per cent of Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) by the year 2008-09.
