Magisterial inquiry ordered into MCA student's suicide

Indore, Sep 19 (UNI) A magisterial inquiry has been ordered into the suicide by a college student, who was fed up with frequent ragging by his seniors, police said.

Durgesh Shukla, who hailed from Khandwa and was a first year student for MCA course at the Pioneer College here, committed suicide by hanging himself at his residence here last evening.

A case had been registered against unidentified students.

Collector Vivek Agrawal said the Sub-Divisional Magistrate would conduct the inquiry.

Meanwhile, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) called a strike here today to protest the incident. Some students were arrested after a scuffle with police.

Durgesh shared a private accommodation with other students. He was alone at his house last evening. When his friends returned from college, they found the room locked from inside. Durgesh was found hanging in the room, which was broken open.

A suicide note left behind by Durgesh said he was ending his life as he had lost self-confidence due to frequent ragging.
