Rupee openes almost steady at Rs 40.56/40.57 per USD

Mumbai, Sep 18: The Rupee today opened almost at the same level at Rs 40.56/40.57 per US Dollar as compared to the previous close of Rs 40.56/57 per dollar.

During the morning session, the local unit made a weak start, traded at the high of Rs 40.56 per dollar and touch the low of Rs 40.62 per dollar due to the tight capital inflows in the market, dealers said.

Dealers also observed that the prospect of more sellings of dollars was in demand, that could provide further down push to the Indian unit agaist dollar.
