PDP for internal ceasefire in Kashmir

Srinagar, Sep 18 (UNI) Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), a partner in the Congress led coalition in the Jammu and Kashmir, today demanded a ceasefire, in the state.

''We believe ceasefire and troop reduction in the Kashmir valley are important Confidence Building Measures which will help to restore the shaered confidence of the people who have suffered during all these years of turmoil,'' PDP senior vice president and former minister Moulvi Iftikhar Hussain said while addressing a meeting here.

He observed that cease-fire will cater to the social sufferings and vital political imperatives which would help to strengthen Indo-Pak relations.

Mr Ansari said that such impediments should not come into the way for peace and amity between the two neighbouring countries.

Everybody should work to encourage overall social, political and economic development in the sub-continent.
