WB: Man lynched, woman burnt to death

Barasat, Sep 18:A few miscreants lynched a man at Tarunpalli area here today.

Police said the 26-year old man, with a criminal record, was dragged out of his house and was beaten to death at about 0130 hours A sibling of the victim had been murdered in 2005 and the case was under trial at the sessions court here, they said adding that the victim was a witness to the case.

A man has been arrested in this regard so far, police said.

Meanwhile, a woman was allegedly burnt to death at Rabindrapalli under Titagarh police station in North 24 Paganas late last night.

She was declared brought dead at the sub-divisional hospital, police said here today.

The victim's brother had lodged a complaint against her husband and in-laws.

Police had taken the victim's husband, father-in-law and a brother-in-law under detention.
