Central team to conduct study on Rubber Dam
Pathanamthitta, Sep 18 (UNI) A three-member Central team today visited the dam on river Pampa at Aranmula to study the viability and feasibility of the proposed Rubber Dam.
The dam, estimated to cost Rs 10 crore, would be constructed 300 metres downstream of Sathrakkadavu at Aranmula, the race course of Uthruttathy Snake Boat Festival.
The Central team included Chief Engineer attached to inland waterways T P Singh and Chief Engineer attached to Central Water Commission H K Khanda.
The Rubber Dam would help to maintain optimum water level in Pampa. The team held discussions with District Collector Ashok Kumar Singh, Water Resources officials and District Tourism Promotion Council personnel.
A detailed report would be submitted by the team to the Central Water Resources Ministry as early as possible.
