Bypoll to fill vacancy in UP Legislative Council on Oct

New Delhi, Sept 18 (UNI) The byelection to fill the vacancy in Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council due to the death of Shyam Narayan Singh, an elected member from the Varanasi Division Teachers Constituency, will be held on October 15.

According to EC notification issued here today, the date of notification for holding the election will be issued on September 21, 2007. The last date of making nominations has been fixed for September 28 while the scrutiny of the nominations will be held on September 29.

The last date for the withdrawal of candidatures is fixed for October 1, and polls, if necessary, will be held on October 15. The counting will take place on October 17 and the entire election process will be completed by October 19.

Mr Singh, who died in a road accident recently, was elected on November 28, 2006 and his term was upto May 26,2008.
