Bangalore, Sep 18: Eyeing the growing number of customers upgrading from their 100cc bikes, leading two-wheeler manufacturer Bajaj Auto today launched its new 'XCD 125' with DTS-Si engine in Karnataka and Goa.

Talking to newspersons here, company Sales Manager Vimal Sumbly claimed that the new bike offered a combination of features - performance of 125 cc and mileage of 100cc.

''Features hitherto available only in select top-end 150cc motorcycles like digital speedometer, LED tail lamp, head lamp with twin prismatic pilot lamps and zero maintenance non-contact wheel speed sensor were present in XCD 125,'' he added.

The other notable features included folding number plate for better aesthetics, a special drive chain cover with a built-in noise-damping feature, full DC electrical system for easy start and constant illumination and unique utility box attached to saree guard.

Priced at Rs 41,000 ex-showroom in Bangalore, the bike had high pick-up as it offered 10.85 Nm of raw power at a low 5,000 rpm and eliminated frequent shifting of gears even at low speeds, Mr Sumbly said, adding that its ideal for city traffic conditions.

''We are targetting to sell 50,000 bikes across the country within two to three months,'' he added.
