Srinagar, Sep 18: Two militants of the Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad (JEM) were killed by security forces in a fierce encounter in north Kashmir early today, official sources said.

They said Special Operation Group (SOG) of the State police and 57 Rashtrya Rifles (RR) launched a joint operation at village Khyar, Bandipora, about 55 km from here in north Kashmir in the early hours today.

When the troops were about to storm a particular house, militants opened fire while trying to escape in a near by field.

Troops also retaliated and killed both the militants.

Two AK rifles and other arms and ammunition were recovered from the slain militants.
