Hyderabad blast: HuJI activist held
Hyderabad, Sept 17: The Special Investigation Team (SIT), probing the August 25 twin blasts which claimed more than 40 lives, have arrested the suspected 'bomb planter' at Lumbini Park.
According to police sources here, SIT has arrested Ridwan Ghazi, an accused in the blast case and an activist of Harkat-ul Jihadi Islami (HuJI), a terrorist organisation operating from Bangladesh.
Ridwan was arrested in Bangalore and has been brought to the city.
SIT cops were interrogating him to find out his role in the twin blasts.
His face resembled the sketch released by the city police recently. It was prepared based on the information by a witness, who was present at Lumbini park when the blast was triggered by the terrorists.
Ridwan, resident of Bangladesh, was overstaying in the city with fake documents. He had obtained ration cards, driving licence and PAN card by submitting fake certificates.
He escaped hours before his sister Rafsanjani was arrested at their house in the city in a police raid recently. Based on the information given by Rafsanjani, SIT raided the hideout in Bangalore where Ridwan was hiding and arrested him.
However, top police officials and SIT cops were not divulging the information about the arrest of Ridwan.
The twin blasts occurred almost simultaneously at Lumbini Park and Gokul Chat at busy Koti area on August 25.
