Aligarh Muslim University student shot dead

Lucknow, Sep17: Unidentified armed miscreants shot dead a student of Aligarh Muslim University in Aligarh city of Uttar Pradesh, police said today. Mohd Mazhar, who was pursuing BSc (Hons) from the varsity, was shot at after he left his hostel late last night.

The student, hailing from Parikshatgarh of Meerut district, was rushed to hospital, but was declared brought dead by the doctors. Enraged over the incident, students of the varsity later vandalised the office of Proctor and Vice-Chancellor.

Meanwhile, police in strength were deployed in the area to avoid any untoward incident.
