'Pak's role in war on terror must be recognised'

Islamabad, Sep 16: President Pervez Musharraf today said that Pakistan's role in the war on terrorism must be recognised. Musharraf made this statement while talking to a US Congressmen delegation led by Bonier.

The US delegation discussed Pak-US relations, the war on terrorism and other international and regional issues, The News reported.

The President told the delegation that Pakistan has taken all possible steps in the war against terrorism, sources said.

Musharraf also expressed his reservations over a Congress legislation, in which US aid to Pakistan has been made conditional. He called for review on the legislation, the sources added.

The delegation also discussed the situation in tribal areas of Afghanistan and Pakistan, they said.

The US want real democracy in Pakistan, for which holding free and fair elections in the country is necessary, said a Congressmen.

US Ambassador to Pakistan N W Peterson was also present in the meeting. ANI>
