Manipur to pay pension through banks

Imphal, Sep 16: The Manipur government has decided to pay the pensions to its retired employees through banks with effect from October one.

State finance commissioner R R Rashmi here today said the government had earlier declared to do so but was unable to implement following lack of cooperation from a section of the pensioners.

The pensioners had not approached the concerned Treasury offices for endorsement of opening of bank accounts, Mr Rashmi added.

He also informed to the pensioners that September 30 was fixed as a deadline for obtaining endorsement from the Treasuries and for opening of bank accounts to avail the facility.
