Fourteen prisoners escape from custody, one traced

Panaji, Sep 16 (UNI) Police today managed to track down a prisoner, who along with 13 others gave the slip to police by escaping from an open gate in the Margao jail after the Ganesh Chathurti prayers.

The prisoners were brought to the lobby of the jail last night to attend the prayers and 'prasad' distribution. They managed to escape through the open gate.

Only this morning during the routine checking, the jail authorities realised that the prisoners had escaped.

Meanwhile, Deputy Inspector General of Police Ujjwal Mishra told UNI that one of the prisoners was traced this afternoon and a manhunt has been launched to track down rest of the 13 prisoners.
