Gorakhpur, Sep 16 (UNI) Taking cognizance of the illegal selection of candidates in the B Ed course without an enterance exam, a local court has directed a criminal case be filed against the then Deendayal Upadhyay Gorakhpur University VC Arun Kumar, besides ordering a further probe into the matter.

The order was passed late yesterday by special court (Anti-Corruption) judge Deepak Kumar Nigam on an application filed by Deendayal Upadhyay Gorakhpur varsity employee leader Ram Naresh Pandey.

Accusing the then VC of being involved in large scale corruption, Pandey had alleged that a large number of people were admitted to the B Ed course, without appearing for the enterance examination.

Besides, the money received from the sale of forms was misused.

The court had directed the Uttar Pradesh Vigilance Establishment to probe into the matter, which submitted its report in the court on September 10.

On the basis of the probe report, the court found the then VC guilty and ordered a criminal case against him.
