Check dams essential to preserve rain water: Rajendra Singh
Hazaribagh, Sep 16 (UNI) Magsaysay award winner Rajendra Singh said here today that better management of rain water through construction of check dams and ponds would help sort the Jharkhand water crisis.
Mr Singh, renowned for his water management techniques, was here to participte in the Hulgulan yatra.
He said only one-fourth of the rain water was being utilised due to inadequate water management.
Mr Singh stressed on the need to form Nari Panchayat in rural areas comprising educated people for water conservation.
He also criticised the Centre for licensing wells alleging that the policy would increase corruption.
