Report on illegal immigrants in Gulf submitted

Hyderabad, Sep 15: A five-member delegation, headed by Andhra Pradesh Energy and Minority Welfare Minister Mohd Ali Shabbir, today submitted its report on the stranded illegal immigrants in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah to Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy.

The Chief Minister instructed Chief Secretary J Harinarayana to discuss the return of illegal immigrants with the Ministry of External Affairs and evolve a procedure, based on the Ministry of External Affair's guidelines, for their repatriation, according to a release here tonight.

Dr Reddy said the government would take pro active steps to solve the issue.

The team had visited the Gulf countries during September eight to 13 to look into the issue of stranded illegal immigrants.
