UP govt stops transfers, announces Paddy Procurement Policy

Lucknow, Sep 14 (UNI) The Uttar Pradesh government has stopped further transfers of government officers and employees with immediate effect.

A decision in this regard was taken here yesterday at a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mayawati.

Cadre officers and employees would not be shifted, till further orders. If an urgent need arises, they can only be transferred after due approval of the Chief Minister or by the concerned department minister.

The state government also announced the paddy procurement policy 2007-08. For the common variety the procurement price had been fixed at Rs 645 per quintal, while for grade A it would be Rs 625 per quintal.

Paddy procurement target had been kept at 10 lakh metric tonnes and 2 lakh tonnes additionally under NAFED from October 1 to February 29.

The government has also decided to provide tax relaxation to the commercial taxis plying from Delhi to Noida, Greater Noida and areas under Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA).

Presently, the Delhi government does not tax vehicles plying from Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad to the National Capital.

Besides, it was decided to provide an ex-gratia payment of upto Rs 10,000 to the family of firemen, who would die on duty.

Earlier, the provision of ex-gratia relief was only for dependents of policemen.
