Agartala, Sep 14 (UNI) The Tripura government today expressed happiness over the Centre's decision of revising the funding pattern for Northeastern states under the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan(SSA) from the current fiscal.

Education Minister Keshab Majumder said here that following repeated appeals from the NE states, the Union Cabinet had accepted the proposal of 90:10 funding module.

''Our performance in SSA implementation is best among NE and a few other states. The new funding pattern would help us make a remarkable achievement in the education sector,'' Mr Majumder said.

With this modification, the eight NE states, including Sikkim, would be required to provide only ten per cent as their share.

The modified funding pattern would be effective from April 1, this year while the funding pattern for the rest of the states had been modified from 65:35 this fiscal to 50:50 in 2011-2012, said Mr Majumder said.
