Chennai, Sep 14 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) president M Krishnasamy today condemned Tamil National Movement (TNM) leader P Nedumaran's supporters wearing shirts with the portrait of LTTE leader Velupillai Prabakaran in a procession taken out by them at Nagapattinam two days ago.

In a statement here, Mr Krishnasamy said carrying the portrait of Prabakaran, a proclaimed offender in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case, was an offence and the Congress party vehemently condemns this.

He said after Rajiv Gandhi's assassination, LTTE was banned in the country and displaying the portrait of its leader in open amounted to disrupting the peace and tranquility of the country.

Stating that this kind of activities could not be allowed in the state, Mr Krishnasamy urged the police to take stern action against these forces.

Mr Nedumaran and his about 300 supporters took out a procession to Nagapattinam port on September 12 to undertake a boat journey to Sri Lanka to distribute the relief materials collected by them for the suffering Tamils in the island.

They were, however, prevented by the police.
